Fishing at Stenton
The Tay is Scotland’s largest and one of the most famous fishing rivers, it is well know for its Salmon and Sea Trout and holds the record for the largest Salmon caught in Britain. The Tay runs through some of the most picturesque scenery in Scotland starting life on the slopes of Ben Lui it runs 120 miles through the Perthshire countryside to the North Sea at Dundee.
Situated between Murthly and Dunkeld the Stenton Beat is one of the most picturesque beats of the River Tay with seven superb pools offering the fly fisherman sport the entire length of the beat. The beat fishes well in all heights of water but it is most notable from late spring and summer into the autumn.
Stenton is half a mile long and can be fished from either bank by wading and from the boat (when the ghillie is present). It is located two miles from Dunkeld and marches with the Glendelvine water where Miss Bllantine caught the British record Salmon of 64lbs.

There is an arrangement in place with the opposite proprietors whereby anglers can fish double banks on alternate days. Stenton fishes Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the season closes on October the 15th. Two Rods can be rented by the day or by the week although priority will be given for full weekly lets.
